Statistics 36 Cubs, 2 visiting, 4 leaders and 7 core helpers

73 HIKES 300 NIGHTS AWAY Issue No 359

Welcome back to another term for the 32nd cub pack with a number of new

adventures and some old favourites for us to enjoy. We have exciting events both

during pack meetings and some additional activities. We have full on drumming

Tuesday the 21st November and a visit from the Children’s Laureate and Guardian

cartoonist, Chris Riddell, on the 28th for an evening of books and how to improve your

drawing. We are looking at a community project, some badge work and our normal

craft, fun and games. Christmas and Fireworks also brighten the dark evenings this

coming term.

Additionally, we have Bag packing, a swimming Gala, a Halloween activity camp, the

chance to see School of Rock in the west end and Duxford WW11 air show. I am

concerned about replacing Jim who we lost last term and believe the pack needs another

male leader. We have many great stalwarts who add value to our pack, however a strong

leadership team remains our foundation, help if you can and look out for a new leader for

us.

We also have a couple of investments to start the year with which always bodes well.

 Group Fireworks evening 7th November

 Drums 21st November in the hall OMG>>>>>>>>

 School of Rock Tickets (Group not Pack theatre trip) 22nd November

Bag Packing at Lower Hall Sainsburys Friday evening

8th September

We have an opportunity to bag pack on Friday 8th September, not a great

spot, Sainsburys has really restricted the available dates for charity bag

packing. This is a chance to raise some much-needed funds for our group

coffersand Cubs are asked to Bag pack from 5:30 until 7pm in support of

this. Please note this important fundraising opportunity for our group.

Duxford WWII Airshow September 23rd

We have now opened the book for £10 Air show tickets, which includes coach

transport. Please feel free to claim your seats, remember if you put your name down

you need to pay before the event. This is a fantastic day out and highly discounted by

the group so no further sibling discounts. Tickets are restricted to Group members and

limited in numbers.

Drums and DrawingTuesday21st and 28th November

These night will be an extra special night for the whole scout Group, something new exciting.

Post a note in your diaries. These are free activity for our Cubs. Both the drums and the

Children’s Laureate should help to nicely broaden our youngsters life experiances.

Theatre Trip Wednesday 22nd November

The 32nd Scout group purchased a number of Tickets for the school of Rock west end show,

This is Scout event and not a Cub night or trip however Tickets will be available for some older

Cubs, note for your diaries and an event to look out for. All enquiries or request for tickets for

this trip should be vial Pactrick Ladbury our scout Leader who is co-ordinating the event.

Halloween Activity camp Belchamps 27th-29th October

We are visiting a new campsite with a great reputation, Belchamps in Essex. We have

indoor fully catered accommodation for their activity led Halloween themed adventure

camp, places are limited the book is open now.

The 32nd Cub Pack maintains two black lists:

Cubs who don’t camp x2 at present

Two reasons, we turn cubs away all year around because of no space, consequently retaining

cubs who do not attend camps is unfair on those not lucky enough to be in the group. Secondly

our scout section has limited space and places need to be available to those who will make the

most of them.

Families who don’t helps x2 at present

Our pack is strong because we have an inclusion and helping culture. The very best cub packs

run on parent help, all parents are advised of the help requirement when their join. I have seen

three local packs close due to lack of help and don’t intend to allow this to happen to us. Help

where you can and if asked.

Big Summer Camp 2018

We are planning a six day camp in the west country during the school summer

holidays July 22nd -28th 2018. A longer cub camp is something the leadership

team see value in, we will look to visit Longleat, Brownsea island, a coastal town

and whatever else we can fit in. We will need numbers to make the trip viable so

please advise if you are interested.

Keep up the good support and help where you can.

Kind regards

Akela
