“Running the very best pack possible”

I hope you all have had a good holiday and return rested and recharged for our 2016-2017 cub year. We should always remember there are a finite number of childhood seasons and children need to savour them all. Our pack has a very busy and exciting programme planned to ensure the coming months are a great finish to the Cub 100 centenary year. County Centenary Cub camp has 34 of our Cubs currently signed on so I am sure we still have a large pack to return too.

We are introducing a new pack policy on costings for events. The pack will subsidise all events by offering them at good value prices. Once the event deadline has passed and should additional places become available these will be charged at unsubsidised prices. The additional cost helps cover the additional work late entrances cause and enables us to budget subsidies.

We are missing some pack/Group items, Tents, ground sheets and other equipment. If you have any of our kit in the back of your garage, please return it. We have sorted out our stores and appointed new champions to manage kit, hopefully we will have resolved our kit tracking issues.

Lots of things to consider, help where you can please.

    1. We are bag packing to subsidise our group’s activities on Sunday 4th September at Sainsbury’s Lower hall, all uniform members need to attend. Will all members please email me by return to work out which bag packing session they can cover?

There are four time slots and each cub is requested to complete one. 10am -11.30, 11.30-1pm, 1pm-2.30 and 2.30-4pm. We are on public show so best uniform.

    1. Cubs restart on Tuesday 6th September

    2. Each cub will be given a small pot as a challenge for September.

    3. In October I will be looking to see how well our crop of seeds planted last term and sent home have grown. I have seen a picture of one and have great expectations.

    4. Most of our Pack, 34 cubs, are attending County Camp, 23rd-25th Please look out for a Joining instructions, which I will post in the coming weeks.

    5. We have a limited supply of Tickets to see the new west end show “Aladdin” at the Prince Edward Theatre in the west end on 4thThese tickets are greatly reduced in price (face value £68.25), we can offer them to uniformed Pack members only for £35. First come first served, tickets available from the front desk and can be secured with a 50% deposit. We do not have enough Tickets for every cub to go.

    6. We have a cyclethon in October and I will be discussing with our sixers council what we want to get for the Pack,

    7. A date for your diaries, all cubs should attend the Cubs 100 Promise party on Friday evening 16th December at Gilwell Park, this Christmas fun fair event should be a fantastic experience uniting with every cub in the country.

We have three “black lists” in the pack:

Cubs who have not camped (two cubs) Cubs who do not hike (six cubs) parents who don’t help (three families)

I mention this for a couple of reasons, firstly if you are on any of these lists your child or another who could have taken their place in our pack and would have camped, is missing out. Secondly our scout group is oversubscribed and not allowing those who don’t fully participate in the group to progress to the next section, is an easy way to help resolve our lack of spaces issue. This is not something I control.

We are seeking an additional leader so if you know anybody have a word.
