“Running the very best pack possible”

October Newsletter 2016

Statistics 40 Cubs 3 visitors, 5 leaders and 7 core helpers

104 HIKES 357 NIGHTS AWAY Issue No 347

October was a busy month for our pack; Aladdin, avocado growing, competition, food night, cyclotron, masks, District quiz, visit to London Zoo and a great fireworks party. Lots of work and loads of fun for our cubs. Many people help to make our Pack successful, thank all who help in the past month. November starts the run up to our festive season, the Cub centenary year has been fantastic to date, lets all work towards making the whole for 2016 a great year for Cubs and our Pack in particular.

“Once more into the breach”

  • We are desperate for goods to be prizes on our Tombola store at the Parish Bazaar in two weeks’ time. As many of you are aware the Parish sponsor our cub pack and provide a great hall for our use, a new gift from each family supporting their Bazaar is one small way we can show our appreciation. Please bring your gift in next week, thanks to those who have already done so. Help is needed on the day.

  • Our Cub Teams did well at District Quiz and Demon, Kealan and Kwamie have made the District Team competing against County on the 20th of this month, Ben Luke and Christian L are the District reserves. Well done all these boys.

  • Great work from the Cubs who attended Cyclotron at the Redbridge cycle centre, a truly great afternoon. Please return sponsorship monies to pack as soon as possible.

  • Remembrance Sunday is on the 13th November, Cubs should show their respect to our fallen heroes on this day. We meet at Chingford fire station at 10:20 this morning in full smart uniform. Let’s have another great turnout this year please.

  • The Cub Centenary Promise Party is on Friday 16th December, Tickets cost £2 (includes a Christmas present) Cub Scouts started on 16th of December 1916 and as a Pack we will join with the nation remembering this event. The Promise Party will have lots of prizes, sweets, inflatables, games, fairground activities, climbing and shooting. We expect a very special seasonal guest will attend. ALL CUBS SHOULD ATTEND THIS EVENT, it’s very special and happens once in a lifetime.

We have three “black lists” in the pack:

Cubs who have not camped (two cubs) Cubs who do not hike (six cubs) parents who don’t help (three families).

I mention this for a couple of reasons, firstly if you are on any of these lists your child or another who could have taken their place in our pack and would have camped, is missing out. Secondly our scout group is oversubscribed and not allowing those who don’t fully participate in the group to progress to the next section, is an easy way to help resolve our lack of spaces issue. This is not something I control.

We are seeking an additional leader so if you know anybody have a word
