November Update

Saturday 22nd November Bazaar Appeal

Most years we collect about one hundred items for our Tombola stall however the collection is short at present, even with more people to collect from. If you haven’t yet made a collection please consider dropping an item into Beavers or cubs this week or bring your donation to the Charlie car park. We are also looking for Adult help on the stall Bazaar day, help where you can please.

Tuesday 18th November Charlie and the chocolate factory

Tickets are all now sold, the coach departs from Frankie and Bennies in New Road. Cubs must arrive at 5:15pm for the coach departure at 5:25pm promptly, it can’t wait.

Cubs are to be dressed in full smart uniform Please:

Uniform shorts no long trousers

Scarves ironed and neatly folded

Woggle correct type and correctly positioned

School shoes and socks

No need for a jacket as it’s coach door to door.

Sadly our overall uniform Standard was poor on remembrance Sunday, being able to have a smart turnout is one of the things that makes us different from normal youth clubs. We can be the best in the District. Theatre price includes a drink and refreshment, Cubs should only bring a small bag of sweets. Please note that packets of crisps are not allowed. Cubs not attending should attend at the hall for a normal pack meeting.

29th November outdoor adventure day Gilwell

Saturday adventure day for cubs meet at Gilwell Park at 9:30 outdoor clothes, a packed lunch and a yearning for adventure. Cubs will be able to earn a badge and take part in some special activities. The day should end about 6pm and should be our last major outdoor event this year. Full details to follow on the 11th.

October; Kubadoo, Athletes badge, Fire safety badge, bonfire party, London visit and Halloween activity camp, small wonder we only have £2.45p left in the kitty. But money very well spent and many magical moments. Akela has also sent a big cheque to Santa which hasn’t helped the cash flow but all our big expenses are currently done for 2014. My thanks to all who helped us achieve this big activity month. Attendance by cubs and behaviour have exceeded expectations. Camp was very different and a real pleasure for all, even Jack who ripped his tongue on a fence smiled in the group photograph an hour later. We hope to return to Phasel’s Wood in 2015. Lots still to come in the next two months. Please remember we need goods: bottles of wine, toiletries or tinned goods, for the Group Bazaar tombola stall when we return to the hall on the 11th November. We are holding two Jackets and a pair of wellingtons left at camp.

Key messages for the coming month:

· Tuesday 4th is District Fireworks at Gilwell Park. Details already sent out.

· An embargo still remains on Cubs helping at Beaver meetings without their parents in attendance. This is for safety reasons.

· A few lego minifigures remain which will be sold off soon if you wish for one please ask.

Parish Bazaar Appeal 11th November

Our Parish is the Scout Group’s sponsoring authority, they support the Scout Group and your child in numerous ways, very evidently the peppercorn donation we make for hall use saves you money each year. We couldn’t afford our programmes without their support, a high rent burden would restrict our opportunities.

Please support the groups Tombola bazaar appeal, provide each child with a gift for the stall on the 11th November and support the Bazaar on the 22nd by attending. It’s a nice traditional community day. Cubs attending the Bazaar should wear their uniforms.

District Map readers Badge 15th November

I expect this event for older cubs (over 9 and a half) but have no further details at present I will hope to have a flyer for the cubs on the 11th with further details.

Our Pack depends on parental help, we need two parent helpers at each meeting, sometimes a few more and lots of help when the pack is out and about. We are the largest and most active local pack with the biggest leadership team, but my leaders are needed to run games and activities not support the pack by tidying up, serving food and drinks and such tasks. We really do need your help for this. Please be aware we have sickness in the leadership team at present which will need additional helpers stepping up and doing their bit. Let’s keep the good work up. We also badly need some additional long term free storage space and could use a second cub pack which would mean a new pack Leader. Let me know if you can help.
