Dear Parents,

March marches on, a few changes as events are juggled to squeeze as much fun into our programme as possible. We have a new event on Sunday 29th March, details on our Easter 14th April visit to Hendon RAF museum. A Gala to run. Opening the book on our big Portsmouth trip on March 23rd. We are moving on six Cubs, most of whom are off to scouts, we wish them good fortune and hope they take happy memories with them from the pack. We are investing four new Cubs, please make them all welcome. Keep up the good support, help where you can.

The shape of things to come:

Tuesday 17th St Patrick’s night

Cubs should make a bishops mitre hat and come with a bishop’s walking stick. Prize for the most exciting hats.

Tuesday 24th Swimmer and Pub night

Cubs trying for staged swimming badges levels 1, 2 and 3 will go swimming. Cars will depart from the hall to Waltham Abbey pool. The remainder of the pack will be having their pub food evening.

Sunday 29th our hall 1:30-4:30 District heat

This is the event where we choose the District team for the 25th April. All Cubs are invited and they will need to build something from Lego that we will supply in a competition race. Cubs who bring their own Lego sets will gain a hobbies badge. Uniformed event, we will supply refreshments.

Tuesday 31st goodbye night and Easter eggs

Easter egg hunting and moving on. This will be the last night of the winter/spring term. We intend to meet at Gilwell Park and end with a campfire. Cubs will restart 21st April.

Tuesday 14th April Hendon RAF Museum

This is a chance for Cubs to be awarded their Air activities badge. Also an interesting day out for the Easter recess. As always Parents and families are welcome to tag along, we will not take responsibility for non-uniformed members or Beavers. The Cubs will be charged £5 for the day and this will cover a simulator ride. Depart outside the hall at 9.00am returning aprox.5:45pm. Uniform, packed lunch and a few pounds spending money.

Sainsbury’s Active kid’s vouchers

Please remember to ask for these when shopping at Sainsbury’s and help us collect as many as possible, the free kit we can get helps reduce your costs.

Our Pack depends on parental help, we need two parent helpers at each meeting, sometimes a few more and lots of help when the pack is out and about. We are the largest and most active local pack with the biggest leadership team, but my leaders are needed to run games and activities not support the pack by tidying up, serving food and drinks and such tasks. We really do need your help for this. Please be aware we have sickness in the leadership team at present which will need additional helpers stepping up and doing their bit. Let’s keep the good work up. We also badly need some additional long term free storage space and could use a second cub pack which would mean a new pack Leader. Let me know if you can help.

Dear Parents,What a great month February was for our pack, the boys, girls, supporters and leaders have some interesting little nuggets to lock away in their little memory boxes and warm them in the darkness of the night, by the fire, when the wolves are howling in the forest outside.

· We had our long awaited car races / throwing which was spectacular.

· Collections judging which as always was interesting.

· Bunker was an awesome event.

· London aquarium visit a truly wonderful day out.

· Three of our cubs won through to be part of the four man district chess team.

· Ten of our cubs represented Chingford district at the county scooter rally and came second.

· As I write this, fifteen of our cubs are attempting the ten bridge county walk (I am joining the group at St. Paul's and writing on my iPad at Letyon on a train going west).

Busy times and lots of good memories, many thanks to my team and our parent helpers who have collectively made this all happen, well done. Our Pack works because we all help drive it.

March looks like a pleasant cruise in comparison, however we have some very interesting and unusual a pack nights planned. My team are also fleshing out the rest of the packs 2015 programme. We have some excellent excursions planned, help where you can.

The shape of things to come:

Ten bridges report

We have just finished the county Ten Bridges Challenge, what great Cubs we have, I was really proud of their enthusiasm and energy. Not one cub, beaver or scout complained and they also were a pleasure to be out and about with. Many thanks for the many parents who supported this event. Cubs were walking to raise money for the British heart foundation. Can all Cubs please bring and sponsorship monies in next Tuesday and we will dispatch it to county. Any non-walkers who would like to support the pack effort please hand your donations in for next Tuesday.

Tuesday 3rd March the race night

Cubs are going out and need hats coats and we need a few helpers. We are traveling on busses and trains taking part in a race. Turn up on time please and ready to run.

Tuesday 10th Marchthe pub night

Interesting night at the pub for a food preparation, eating, drink making and tasting evening. Non-alcoholic for those under 18years of age!!!!!. Only half the pack will attend this event the other half will have activities in the hall.

Tuesday 17th St Patrick’s night

Cubs should make a bishop’s mitre hat and come with a bishop’s walking stick. Prize for the most exciting hats.

Tuesday 24thSwimmer and Pub night

Cubs trying for staged swimming badges levels 1, 2 and 3 will go swimming. Cars will depart from the hall to Waltham Abbey pool. The remainder of the pack will be having their pub food evening.

Tuesday 31stgoodbye night and Easter eggs

Moving on time for some of our oldest cubs.

"There’s six more seats in our cub pack,

There’s six more tears in my eye,

Those cubs and the things that they stood for,

It's tough but we're goanna get by.

I know we had a lot of cubs

And that's no longer true.

But feel no sadness feel no pain,

Akela would not want you too"

We lose six good cubs to scouts. But on the brighter side we can replace them all with ease and the replacements are bound to be better cubs. All leaving Cubs are obligated to complete their leaving posters, showing six things they enjoyed most in the Pack. Each thing must be presented in a different media (painted, collage, photo, writing, stuck together, black and white, drawing) the choice is yours.

All have been good cubs who have added to the success and fun of our pack, we wish them well in the future, please come back and see us but not for several years.
