32nd Pack Chingford"Running the very best pack possible"

May 2015 Newsletter

Statistics 38 cubs 4 visiting beavers 7 leaders 7 core helpers

187 HIKES 295 NIGHTS AWAY

Dear Parents,May has been a busy month for both me personally and our pack, with lots going on. I had a trip around the world visiting family and even with half term the pack still met five times and achieved much. Portsmouth and the London adventure were both well supported and great fun. I no longer class my birthdays in years but times around the sun thanks to the planetarium visit. June is traditionally a busy month, we have a lot going on including Summer camp which is the high spot of our Cub year. I would like to especially thank my leaders and helpers who kept the pack running and the adventure continuing in my absence.

The shape of things to come:

Nepal £2 good deed appeal

The people of Nepal have suffered two horrific earthquakes. This is a poor country and many have lost everything. I have asked each cub to work for a £2 individual donation which the pack can collect as part of a 32nd Scout Group good deed in support of these people. Together we can forward a few hundred pounds which will make a difference. Please support your child's good deed effort.

Athletics evening 9th June Lee Valley

We are meeting at Lee Valley athletics Track (big glass and metal building opposite the odeon multi-screen) 7-8:20, on Tuesday the 9th. Cubs should bring a drink, wear comfortable trainers, yellow pack t-shirts, PE shorts and scarves. We traditionally pull in a lot of parent help for this evening so if you are going let a leader know you can help. Those new to the indoor arena are in for a treat.

Connaught Waters Tuesday 16th June

We will meet at Connaught waters Normal time normal uniform, weather permitting and work on the team challenge. If the weather is poor we will revert to our normal meeting place.

Gilwell funday Saturday 20th June

Half our cub pack ticket allocation have sold, the pack is offering tickets at £10 which is a 33% discount. Our 32nd Scout Group subsidising the event. Beavers must purchase through our Beaver section as they have their own ticket allocation. This is a great Cub day out on our doorstep. An association film crew has asked to follow our pack and beaver colony around to capture the day for some sort of national awareness campaign. Pay at the front desk if you are going, remember if you leave it too late you may not get a place.

Gilwell good deed Tuesday 23rd June

We will meet at Gilwell park this evening to return a favour.

Cub camp 26-28th June Danemead

We are back to Danemead, our District campsite and having a Roman themed extravaganza. Joining instructions will be attached to hard copies of this newsletter. Summer Cub Camp is always our best yearly activity, it is a smorgasbord of badges, Cubs experience a roller coaster of activities in the 44 hours it encompasses, it is the big jewel in our programmes crown and something they will remember fondly until they get dementia. All Cubs should attend camp especially this one. As normal lots of things clash in June, we can be very flexible about joining in times if you have difficulties, the big Roman war being the focus of Saturday. Any questions please see a leader.
