Please note December date changes due to school concert

After printing our handouts we became aware of a school concert on Tuesday 15th October which will clash with our cub Christmas party therefore the following changes are made:

  • Bring a produce item in for Christmas hamper on the 1st please

  • Christmas party will be on the 8th December bring a hat

  • Seconders help with Chingford tree on the 11th please

  • Master chef team on the Sunday 13th

  • Film night in the hall on the 15th December bring a pillow

  • We are planning to see the new Starwars film on Monday the 21st Dec

Now is the winter of our discontent, made glorious summer by these older cubs moving on to scouts. It's time overdue for a little moving on. But the next crop of new cubs move up from beavers to replace them and the continuing story of our Pack goes on. Farewell Sunny, Tommy, Romeo, Cerys, James and Madeleine, parting is such sweet sorrow.

Halloween camp was a great success, many thanks to Bagheera for her planning and the help received. We are very pleased with our two cubs, Luke and Kaelen, supporting the District team that came third at the County Quiz. Many thanks to everybody who supported the bazaar and child’s lost toys appeal. I was unable to attend the Bazaar but am advised that the cubs who attended did us great credit and our stall did very well.

November brought great fun for our Pack, fireworks (great display by Ian Torrie), activity camp; swimming badges, remembrance parade, Lion King theatre trip, bazaar and county quiz. Also most cubs will receive some memorabilia of the things they have taken part in: swimming badges, remembrance certificates, theatre ticket stubs, post cards they have sent, photographs they have taken, passports of activities they have completed, event badges from county activities they have taken part in. Thankfully December is all back in the hall.

Blacklist

We have three “black lists” in the pack:

Cubs who do not camp (three cubs)

Cubs who do not hike (six cubs)

Parents who don’t help (four families)

I mention this for two reasons, firstly if you are on any of these lists your child is missing out. Secondly our scout group is oversubscribed and not allowing those who don’t full participate in the group to progress to the next section, is an easy way to help resolve our lack of spaces issue. This is not something I control.

Merry Christmas Tuesday 1st December

We have two activities next week: Christmas craft and Christmas hampers

    1. Cubs are making christmas craft – parent help needed.

    2. Cubs are building Christmas food hampers for elderly in the parish. Please support this good deed by sending in a couple of seasonable products to help pack out the hampers.

2015 Pack Christmas party Tuesday

8th December Make a hat

Christmas party, all parents please supply one of the party food items requested each. All cubs should make themselves a Christmas themed party hat. The best judged hats will win prizes. We need help on the Christmas party please see help list.

Film Night Tuesday 15th December

Cubs will watch a film bring pillows we provide the film and refreshments don’t be late.

Robin Hood Pantomime Woodford

7th January

Cubs, Scouts and Beavers will be attending the local Pantomime on 7th January we have a limited number of tickets which we are selling for £5 each. This is a greatly reduced price subsidized by your scout group. Book early to avoid disappointment.

Collectors Badge

In February 2016 the Pack will hold a collectors badge evening. Every cub is expected to complete a collection. Cubs can earn a collector’s badge each year for a different collection. Cubs need to start their collections in the next few weeks.

    • Make a collection over a period of three months of twelve or more similar items (e.g. stamps, coins, postcards, fossils).

    • Display your collection in an exciting and interesting way.

    • Talk about items in your collection that particularly interest you.

    • View a collection made by someone else and explain what you like or dislike about its presentation.
