32nd Pack Chingford

"Running the very best pack possible"

December Newsletter 2014

Statistics 45 Cubs 2 visitors 7 leaders 6 core helpers

108 HIKES 302 NIGHTS AWAY

November was fun, hectic but really good. Phasels wood, Bazaar, safety, navigators, backwoods cooking and Charlie. If the safety badges keep just one of our younger members from becoming tomorrows miserable statistics then they were time we'll spent. A big thank you to Mick Reed for his highly enlightened fire station demonstrations.

December is Crafts, films and party. Lots to do and something for everybody to enjoy. We are moving four of our Sixers on to Scouts, promoting a few and taking in a couple more Cubs, spaces remain at a premium.

Many thanks to everybody who has helped in any way, please note we need parent help each week and have a roster on the front desk. Make a Hat for the Christmas party.

Well done our two Cubs, David and Joey, who helped the District Team reach second place at County Quiz.

I am putting a large team together for Bunker February 2015, Bunker is the most exciting event we ever run and if you which to contribute give me a shout.

Gilwell adventure day pictures are now uploaded by Dan McGill on our site, http://www.32ndchingfordscoutgroup.co.uk/home, many thanks Dan.

Key dates for December:

2nd cubs meet at the hall and complete the Christmas pack good deed for elderly in our community. Please remember to bring in a small hamper gift.

9th cubs meet at the hall and complete their Christmas craft.

12th cubs can visit the Scouts in the hall and watch the second Hobbit film

16th Cub Christmas party in the hall

19th Cubs visit Lea valley Odeon Cinema to See “The Battle of the five armies”

Collectors Badge

All cubs should have started a collection for presentation next year, collections need to be twelve or more related objects presented in an ordered fashion by the Cub. Cubs can earn more than one collectors badge but they must have worked on each collection for at least three months.

16th December is our Christmas party

All Cubs should bring a Christmas hat of their creation. Prizes will be awarded for the best hats. Santa has a special gift for each Cub which needs returning to pack in 2015.

On Friday the 12th We will show the second hobbit film in the hall and on the following Friday the Group will pay for uniformed Cubs to see the latest film “the Battle of five armies” at the Odeon Lea Valley. Families are welcome to tag along.

For you generous support towards our Parish Bazaar tombola stall. Our Efforts raised over £300 for our sponsoring authority. Well done to all those who donated or supported the stall.

Our Pack depends on parental help, we need two parent helpers at each meeting, sometimes a few more and lots of help when the pack is out and about. We are the largest and most active local pack with the biggest leadership team, but my leaders are needed to run games and activities not support the pack by tidying up, serving food and drinks and such tasks. We really do need your help for this. Please be aware we have sickness in the leadership team at present which will need additional helpers stepping up and doing their bit. Let’s keep the good work up. We also badly need some additional long term free storage space and could use a second cub pack which would mean a new pack Leader. Let me know if you can help.
